Steps Involved In The Manufacturing Process

Iron Ore to Steel

Primary Steel-Making Process

During the early stage of making steel, oxygen gets mixed with carbon in the iron, to get rid of carbon dioxide. This is called pre-treatment. Then the steel goes through the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) to purify the composition. The molten steel gets transferred from the EAF to a ladle and then to a regular casting machine.

Self-tempering

When the rebars come out from the Thermex Quenching box, the core stays hotter than the outer surface. This heat flows to the outer Martensite layer that forms a structure called ‘Tempered Martensite’.

Atmospheric cooling 

Now the steel bars rest on a cooling bed at normal temperature. Here the austenitic core is tuned into the ferrite-pearlite structure. Hence, the final product has a hard order layer with tough and a ductile core.
